BOOKWORM // THE MARRIAGE PLOT

Fair warning, my friends.  A whole onslaught of book-related posts are heading your way.  I'm hitting the (school-related) books hard for the next week, so it's fitting I suppose :) These are all of my spring break reads that I mentioned a while back

Also, there is a little shout out to Lovely Explorer on Melissa's Blog.  Thanks Melissa!  Go check her blog out if you haven't already.

This bestseller book by Jeffrey Eugenides had been catching my eye for some time now.  I think it was the font on the cover, to be honest.  More about how I choose books based on their covers here...

Once I actually got to reading the abstract, I knew it was for me. Twenty-something in college? Check.  Two boys in the mix? Okay.  Some European travel? Yes, please.

But the holds ran on and on, at it seemed like I would have to wait forever until I got my hands on it.  Until 2 weeks before spring break, when I was studying my booty off for a midterm.  I saw it on a shelf in my university's library.  Who knew we have fun books like that, too?  Not I.

I couldn't resist snatching it up, but there was a hitch.  It was due back in two weeks. Dun dun dun.

The book became another method of procrastination for me.  Good thing, it was worth it!  I really did enjoy the characters, especially Madeleine.  The heroine was a lot like me in some ways, and a lot different in many others (for example, I would never skip my graduation ceremony to console a crazy ex-boyfriend).  The prose was really great, and I will definitely be picking up more from this author.

  2. Ooo Marriage Plot! I picked this one up a couple months ago and read the first 50 pages or so (and really enjoyed it!) but because I was stuck in school I had to return it and haven't thought of finishing it. I've heard such great things about it though, I just may have to!
