TECH // APPS I'M LOVING LATELY

Just jumping in with a helpful and hopefully interesting little list for you. The Levo League (have you heard of this career-focused resource for women?) recently posted an article about Great Apps for Working Women.  I thought I'd share a list of the apps that I'm loving lately.

PicTapGo is my latest obsession. It does cost a few dollars, but is well worth it. It's a highly customizable and easy-to-use photo editing app. You can layer different effects onto your photos and control how much of an effect it has on your photo. You can also layer effects on top of effects to create "recipes" and it magically remembers your favorite looks. It's instagram without having to publish it all!

Happier is an app I've been trying out for a week or so now. It's essentially a happiness journal. It reminds you to look back on your day and share three happy things (you can also add photos). These can be shared to your network or be kept personal. I'm using mine as a personal journal, so I don't publish any of my happy moments.

Triposo is an app that I can't wait to use in less that three weeks while in Paris. It's a travel app you can use when your phone is on airplane mode. You can download maps and resources for the city you are headed to directly to your phone before your trip to have without the costly consequences of using data abroad.

News360 is a news gathering app that learns your preferences and interests. At the start, it asks you what industries you are interested in. As you use it more regularly, it learns what you read and avoid. There is also a thumbs up and thumbs down button to allow you to share what you do and don't love to read about. After using this app for a while, I know that the articles it provides me now are usually fascinating and worth my time.

Mint makes me feel all grown up. It's an easy-to-use budget manager. It's allows you to think ahead and plan both a typical monthly budget and budget for long-term dreams (like travel). It sends you alerts when you go over budget and when your bills are due. Plus - it's safe, secure and pretty to look at.

I also use Twitter, Facebook and Instagram on the regular. Other apps worth an honorable mention are the Kindle app, TeuxDeux and LoseIt! I love discovering new apps, so what ones do you gravitate towards?

  1. Just downloaded Triposo! I'm all about good travel apps. I also downloaded Happier a few days back but haven't used it yet. I should probably start at some point, it seems really neat!

  2. Nice blog you have here, and I like your app suggestions! I'm considering trying the Happier app just to add a little fun inspiration to my day. And Mint would be very useful! I have a lot of photo apps on my phone, including KitCam, Picfx and BeautifulMess.
